Lately at Design Union’s morning webinars we’ve had the opportunity to hear many inspirational stories about Finnish creative industry professionals’ take on both sustainability and working with different foreign markets.
Sustainability is also an important factor in our next guest speakers' design philosophy, so much so that she decided to quit industrial design studies in her native China to pursue researching sustainable waste practices in a faraway country - Finland, that is.
In just a couple of years, Jing Wang has managed to win many a Finn’s heart with the growing collection of upcycled jewelry of the company she founded while studying at Aalto University.
The Upcycle With Jing -pieces are literally made out of litter - they are handcrafted from PET plastic bottles collected in Helsinki - yet they look and feel like treasures. Elegant, feminine, light and bright, they’ve already gained the young company some serious media and retail exposure as well as many delighted customers.
From her nature-inspired design practice to building an environmentally and socially responsible company in a foreign country, Jing shall share with us her thoughts and experiences as a creative entrepreneur.
Come and join us for an inspirational morning and feel free to join the conversation in English or in Finnish!
